The European Commission started a public consultation on the Green Paper On Forest Protection and Information in the EU: Preparing forests for climate change. The consultation terminated on July 31st. The Climate Summit European Coordination prepared and submitted to the European Commission a document in reply to that Public Consultation. The document is downloadable here.
The Climate Summit is a global consortium of concerned individuals and institutions committed to addressing the dual issues of climate change and sustainable development. We utilize common, innovative and advanced communication technologies to increase awareness and create a forum through which the global community can join together for discussion, deliberation and action.

RUSSIA: A CLIMATE CHANGE VICTIM
I came back from vacation just to share with all of you my sadness (and anger) for what is happening in Russia. The average temperature in the August period in Russia is 23 degrees Celsius, while now is 32, an extreme high temperature for that latitudes. The heat stoked wildfires that continue to burn out of control and clouded Moscow in smoke. 52 people died. At the TV, President Medvedev announced, "What's happening with the planet's climate right now needs to be a wake-up call to all of us, meaning all heads of state, all heads of social organizations, in order to take a more energetic approach to countering the global changes to the climate." He is right. It's time to change our overall attitude against the climate change. What's happening in Russia is just an example of what will happen if we do not act with adequate policy against the climate change. Let's forget Copenhagen (approach and effect) and let try to solve the problem. I give all the condolence from The Climate Summit Europe to the families of the 52 victims of the wildfires.
